Gimle opened in 1988 on Ringstedgade and until the year 2000 was run as a private music café, music venue and food house. In the year 2000, the ownership of Gimle was taken over by the young people through Gimle Foundation who manages operations, and cooperates with Gimle Association there is the Association of Volunteers at Gimle.
