Deep Purple are an English rock band. Along with Led Zeppelin & Black Sabbath, they are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock. There simply aren't enough superlatives to properly acknowledge the contribution they have made to rock music, being named the '5th Most Influential Band Ever' by Planet Rock.
