The Gasteig is Europe’s largest and most successful arts centre with more than 1.8 million visitors annually. The venue owes its name to its location: on the »gachen Steig« (steep track), near Munich’s centre and visible from far and wide above the banks of the river Isar. It is a meeting place for artists and audiences, teachers and students, novices and experts, avid readers and bookworms.
