Widespread Panic have been together since 1986, formed by vocalist/guitarist John, bassist Dave and late guitarist Michael, who lived together in a suburban house in Athens, Georgia where they met at students. They are influenced by the Southern rock, blues-rock, progressive rock, funk and hard rock genres. They have been compared to other jam bands such as the Grateful Dead and Phish.
